Stasis Dermatitis (also called Stasis Eczema, Gravitational Eczema, or Varicose Eczema) is a common skin disorder characterized by an itchy rash on the lower legs. It is commonly seen in patients with chronic varicose veins or who have had a clot in the deep leg veins (deep vein thrombosis). Holistic treatment utilizes both internal herbs and topical creams.

When Will I Be Better?
A treatment course for stasis dermatitis varies depending on the severity and duration of the condition. Mild cases with a recent onset generally clear up within a month of treatment. Serious cases can take 4 to 6 months of treatment (or even longer) to fully resolve. We treat until the condition is stable. Once this happens, the body naturally remains in a healthy state on its own.
Does Herbal Medicine Really Work?
Herbal medicine is one of the most effective methods to address underlying imbalances and completely heal stasis dermatitis.
What About Acupuncture?
Acupuncture can be beneficial to increase circulation and improve blood flow, but it’s really herbal medicine that is the mainstay of treatment for stasis dermatitis. Acupuncture is considered a secondary modality. If your time and budget allow for acupuncture treatment, then it will be included as part of the overall treatment plan. If not, internal herbs and topical creams and salves will provide effective treatment on their own.
