The name Yin Yang Dermatology –
~ Refers to the Chinese herbs that lay the foundation of our practice
~ And also refers to our overarching philosophy of holistic dermatology
~ In Chinese medicine, “Yin” and “Yang” describe opposites that together form a whole.
Healing occurs in a person when yin and yang are brought into balance. For example, people with too much heat in their bodies are balanced by herbs that are cooling. People with too much dampness in their bodies are brought into balance by herbs that are drying. In Chinese medicine, there are countless signs and symptoms that can be looked at in terms of Yin and Yang.
In our practice as a whole we achieve optimal results by reaching beyond Chinese medicine, incorporating other natural modalities, and embracing Yin/Yang opposites:
• Ancient & Modern: We combine the wisdom of traditional Chinese herbalism with current research on the pharmaceutical benefits of modern botanical extracts and exotic oils. This way, we integrate “the best of both worlds” to achieve the most effective holistic treatments available.
• East & West: Our herbs, oils, and extracts come from Asia, France, New Zealand, Brazil & the US.
• Internal & External: Herbal teas are given internally with creams, ointments, masques, gels or washes applied externally. Internal herbs lay the basic foundation of healing from within, while topical treatment adds to the efficacy and expedites healing.
